Welcome
Thank you for considering participation in the "Stuttering in the Real World" study. This study, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health, is directed by J. Scott Yaruss, PhD, Professor of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at Michigan State University (jsy@msu.edu).
Study Details
Our goal is to gain insights into how stuttering affects individuals in their daily lives. To achieve this, we will record audio of participants' speech throughout their day-to-day activities. First, we will conduct an initial interview to learn more about your speech and stuttering patterns. Following this, you will receive a compact microphone and a small recorder through the mail. We will ask that you wear this microphone for a continuous period of seven days, during which it will capture both your speech and the surrounding sounds. Once the recording phase concludes, we will organize a debriefing session to talk about your experience during the study.
Your privacy and the privacy of people you speak are of utmost importance. You will be able pause the recording at any time, and you are not expected to wear the microphone during private conversations or at other times when you would not like to be recorded.
Please note that this study is available only to residents of certain U.S. states, consistent with local laws regarding consent for recordings.
Participants in this study will be compensated for participation in this study via Giftogram E-Gift Card.
